General Practice ST1

Check application requirements and the next steps in your MSRA preparation.

Before you begin

For GP ST1, check the application and prepare the MSRA

GP ST1 national selection uses the MSRA rather than an interview or an achievement-based portfolio score. This checklist keeps the practical application and exam tasks together. Completing it does not estimate your MSRA result.

  1. Confirm that your application meets the GP person specification.
  2. Check your allocated sitting, booking and identification requirements.
  3. Prepare both MSRA papers and keep track of preferencing and offers.
Selection assessment
MSRA, subject to eligibility and 2027 prioritisation; no national GP ST1 interview.
No portfolio conversion
Research, teaching and QI achievements cannot be added to an MSRA total here.
