For Core Psychiatry, focus on eligibility and the MSRA

The national core route has no interview in this round; selection uses the MSRA. A teaching certificate or publication does not create portfolio selection points here. Use these two sections to check your application and organise exam preparation.

  1. Choose either the Scotland vacancy or the England/Northern Ireland/Wales vacancy; only one can be considered for 2027. Both use the same selection process.
  2. Confirm your allocated MSRA window and booking instructions.
  3. Prepare both papers and review official preferencing and offers instructions.

  • Review both Clinical Problem Solving and Professional Dilemmas formats and your allocated test window.
  • Check the applicable sitting/score-transfer rules rather than assuming an earlier result can be carried forward.

The February 2027 sitting is reserved for GP/Core Psychiatry-only applicants. Your allocation may still be January; follow the invitation.
