The 2027 person specification and live 33.3% MSRA weighting are current. The live interview page describes the present two-station format but says it is subject to change; the detailed mark split remains on a page titled for the August 2023 intake and is labelled legacy throughout.

Important O&G clinical workflows

Applicants often name labour ward, triage, theatre and MDTs without explaining the O&G doctor's contribution. Follow information and responsibility through the workflow.

Maternity triage turns concern into a safe route

The team gathers gestation, symptoms, observations, fetal information and risk factors; decides urgency and location; begins assessment; and sets review or discharge safety-netting. It depends on reliable handover and escalation.

Labour-ward board rounds create shared situational awareness

Obstetricians, midwives, anaesthetists and neonatal teams review risk, progress, staffing and theatre needs. The O&G doctor contributes clinical assessment, decision points, contingency plans and clear documentation.

Emergency theatre requires parallel preparation

Clinical stabilisation, consent, senior decision, anaesthetic review, blood products, antibiotics, neonatal planning and theatre readiness may occur together. Urgency does not remove the need for explanation and role allocation.

Gynaecology MDTs convert evidence into a plan

Relevant history, imaging, pathology, patient preferences and treatment options are assembled before a documented recommendation. The clinician must later explain what was decided and what uncertainty remains.

Governance closes the loop after harm or near miss

Immediate care and candour come first. Reporting, record review, multidisciplinary analysis, actions, ownership, remeasurement and feedback to patients or staff turn an event into learning.
