  • Understand the question. Explore specialty questions, cases and study guides where available.
  • Example bank. Develop your own leadership, teamwork, teaching and QI evidence, ready to use across different questions.

Spoken practice · Coming at launch

The interviewer speaks. You answer out loud. It responds to what you say.

Hear the question, explain your thinking and handle the next challenge. Follow-up draws on your answer and the evidence you provide.

  1. Hear the question

The AI interviewer asks the question aloud, so practice feels like a conversation rather than a text chat.

  2. Answer out loud

Use your microphone and answer naturally. Your spoken response becomes part of the interview transcript.

  3. Get follow-up based on your answer

The interviewer listens to the content of your answer and can probe what you said, your evidence and the gaps you leave.

  4. Coach it, then test it

Coach mode gives feedback and lets you retry. Interview mode removes the hints and keeps feedback until the mock is complete.

Built around your evidence

Personalisation should change the questions, not just your name.

The preparation context is deliberately specific to this interview route. The aim is to help you choose, explain and defend your own evidence rather than memorise someone else's answer.

  1. Your achievements and application evidence

  2. Clinical examples from acute and general medicine

  3. Ethics, governance and professionalism examples

  4. Your reasons for choosing Internal Medicine Training

Current published format

Two stations covering the full range of IMT selection.

The latest fully published IMT structure uses two online stations, with separate scoring across achievements, suitability, professionalism, clinical reasoning, communication and handover.

View official IMT interview structure

The IMT website is updated by recruitment cycle; check the official guidance for the year you apply.

  1. Station 1: achievements/application, suitability for IMT and ethical/professional/governance discussion, including communication assessment.

  2. Station 2: a clinical scenario covering investigations, diagnosis and management, communication, and a one-minute handover.

  3. The current published format uses two 11-minute stations with preparation time around them.

Two ways to practise

Learn with support. Then remove it.

Coach mode

Make each part of your IMT answer count.

At launch, Coach Mode will move between achievements, suitability, professional judgement and clinical reasoning, listen to what you say, give focused spoken feedback and let you retry while the detail is fresh.

  • Refine the two-minute achievements presentation
  • Challenge vague commitment-to-specialty answers
  • Probe ethical reasoning rather than memorised frameworks
  • Repair clinical explanations and handover structure

Interview mode

Rehearse the IMT interview rhythm.

At launch, Interview Mode will move through the published IMT task types without coaching, adapt its follow-up to your spoken answers and keep structured feedback until the mock is over.

  • Timed verbal responses
  • Clinical follow-up as information unfolds
  • Communication assessed throughout
  • Concise end-of-scenario handover
